I visit LabCorp in Clinton, Maryland to have blood work drawn. First I was ask for my insurance information , driver license and my credit card.

I thought the credit card was a little strange because I have had blood drawn before at other labatory and never had to submit one since I have insurance. After being called back to get my blood drawn I mentioned to the technician that I have small veins and I have always had my blood drawn with butterfly needles. She said that they don't have those needles there.I ask what do they do when they have to take blood from babies they said they have to use the large needles. This is insane.

If I had a baby they would not use it on my child. After refusing to have them use a large needle on me. I requested that I get all my information back especially my credit card information because I have been a victim in the pass and since I had no service done, I have a right to get all of the information destroyed in front or me or given to me . They only gave me the copy made of my insurance card.

This is one sorry lab they need some directions. Not having small needles for people with small veins is rediculous for a place that specialize in drawning blood.

Same experience in NJ Bridgewater labcorp, they do have butterfly needle but refused to use it may because they don't want to spend 5 seconds to get it!

LabCorp is GHETTO! The people that work there are like street people!

Yuck! And, they have no business asking for a credit card. I imagine it was so they could bill it, in case your insurance did not pick up all charges.

What do they do when the person has no credit card? I wouldn't give them a CC # for any reason.

Butterfly needles actually hurt a lot more than the regular needles. Ask for 23 gauge instead of small needle. I woudn't want to get stuck with a butterfly needle anyway.

Untrue. Butterfly needles are painless. I have a medical condition that requires constant blood work, so I know what I am talking about.

I had the worst experience at a labCorp in Richmond Hill,NY. I am pregnant and had the glucose tolerance test.

They were so rude, they couldn't find any vein. They kept sticking me and no blood coming out. After finally taking two of the the four samples of blood, they said they couldn't find any more veins and they wouldn't be using anymore butterfly needles because they already used 4 needles. The blood was suppose to be taken every hour, no one was keeping track, after 25 minutes past and i told them that;s it time to take blood again.

They came with this needle that was the biggest needle I have ever seen, when I told them they can't use that needle.

They said they can't continue the test. So they pricked me like 6 times and halfway through the test they stopped, saying I am not cooperating.

I was told the butterfly needles were the same size at LABCORB and the technician I usually end up with is the same. My arm hurts for days after having blood drawn in an Alabama office.

I think she hurts my arm on purpose. Because my doctor is excellent, I haven't complained in the past.

But I will be getting her name the next time. My daughter had a bad experience two years ago by a beginner and she has practically developed a phobia.

First off, to the crybaby who keeps whining about not being rehired, do you think it could be YOU?! Move on and look elsewhere they don't want you back for a reason.

Second, don't blame the tech for not having supplies. In some areas the tech has to place a supply order through their supervisor, and in this *** company not every supervisor is quick to place an order. Last, there is no such thing as a big or small needle. Let me make this easy for your simple ***, we only use 21, 23, and sometimes 25 gauge needles.

Next time you get bloodwork done ask to see the bevel of what you call a big needle and a small needle. They're the same size! So whether they had butterflies on not the tech could have drawn you with a needle with the black cap, it's 23 gauge just like your small needle.

(Butterfly) I love it when you idiots come in and say don't draw me with that big needle, so I grab a 21 gauge butterfly and stick you with it which is the same size. Learn your facts before trashing someone on the internet.

I'm a ex-employee of LabCorp; to their defense the employees have what they need to draw blood with; the problem here is either..a) the employee lied or b) they were in fact out and had not placed an order in time to get supplies re-stocked.

My only issue with LabCorp is that once you leave under good conditions, you will never get rehired back, which is evident with me applying for now over tow years hundreds and hundreds of positions. I left under the impression that they would re-hire me, per the company president once a position became available, Hello....its been thre years and I still sit unemployeed.

Have had same experience. The one I had to go to told me they get some per month, but those are quickly used up.

The clinician appeared to be inexperienced and took several times to find the vein.

Very painful! :sigh

I am not justifying what this tech did by no means... With that, I work for a Lab Corp in Texas.

We DO NOT stick babies with big needles. I would not allow my baby to be stuck with a big needle.

A lot of techs are told by their supervisors that if a patient requests a butterfly to tell them they they are out because butterfly needles are RATIONED. Seriously. A service center only gets a certain amount a month and they have to be saved for the babies.

I am not saying I have never stuck an adult with a butterfly, but I wont if I don't have to. There are other alternatives.

There are needles that are the same size and a butterfly but it just not a butterfly. That tech should have offered you that option before they let you get upset and leave...

I am always told they are out. I have bleeding and clotting disorders and should not have to tell my medical conditions to a tech to have what I ask done.

I am never offered an option , large needle or goodbye. I actually have the district manager's number in my cell,I talk to her more than I did to my wife when I was married.

She must of been told not to use butterfly needles. They are expensive.

Most people don't need a butterfly needle to have blood drawn. In this case go with the customers request
